That’s part of the point…I’m curious if any readers know what those are before I go ahead and say. The one on the right contains asparagus, yellow squash, red onion, and those crazy green things on the left
There ya go! One of my favorite parts of late spring/early summer is when these green lovelies grace my farmer’s market. The subtle sweetness of garlic in the form of what can be approached as a vegetable. They were diced, sauteed and added to that veggie pie you see to the right. Truly delicious seasonal eating at its best. For now, scapes are a memory while I play with squashes and pomegranates.
In the pic above, I sauteed them and made a delicious summer pie with asparagus, scapes, red onion and yellow squash. But I also serve them as a side with dinner, make pesto with them, dice them into a sautee and serve over pasta…the uses are endless.
Crap, another great original song ruined. Looked like that boy of summer only got half a haircut. Was that the former lead singer of kashagoogoo in that awful video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKIs_6qc4cQ
That video has a history to it in the uk – but basically the song and the vid was banned from mainstream channels – banning the song because of its gay connotations made it a massive number one record for ages in 1984ish

Garlic scapes?

I’d go with Garlic Stems or Scapes of that is the correct terminology.

You know, DJ Sammy doesn’t do a bad rendition of that tune. Purists will hate it though.
